Doors 8:30 PM. Roundtable Discussion 9:00 PM. Performances 10:00 PM
On Thursday February 4th, 2010, please join us in celebrating the launch of "Making It Montreal," a unique research and promotion project highlighting English artists who chose to make Montreal home.
Featured artists performing at the "Making It Montreal" launch and participating in the roundtable discussion include:
Lake of Stew is a collective of songwriters and instrumentalists who make up an old-timey folk/roots string-band known for its raucous unplugged sets and spirited harmony singing.
Tony Ezzy is a multitalented musical funk philosopher keeping the old school alive from his Montreal HQ in the PQ. With each live show, the man's legend grows with his party time blends of funk, jazz, street beats and gospel styles and humorous lyrical proclamations.
Also taking part in the roundtable discussion:
The event will be followed by an art exhibit in March at Casa del Popolo and other events through 2010. Each event will help explore the perspectives of Anglophone artists of varied disciplines who moved to Montreal in adulthood: their decision to "make it" here and also how they're helping to "make" Montreal a more dynamic place.
A CKUT co-production made possible in part through the assistance of Canadian Heritage's Cultural Development Fund.
